Fichtelgebirge District Scouts
Learn something about the Fichtelgebirge District, probably one of the best within the VCP in South Germany. ;-)
Our district runs many activities during the scouting year. Most of them are camps or hiking trips, but also leadership trainings and journeys to other countries. During the last two decades weīve been in Cambodia, Chile, Denmark, England, Hungary, Ireland, Libya, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Scotland, South Korea, Switzerland and Thailand. Additionally, we also cultivate friendships to scouts and guides in Poland, Lithuania and England.
Location and Groups
The VCP-Bavaria itself is divided into eight districts (ger.: Region, Bezirk, Gau). One of the larger ones (geographically and by members) is the Fichtelgebirge District in the far North East of Bavaria. It is located near the former border to the German Democratic Republic (GDR) and covers large parts of Upper-Franconia (ger.: Oberfranken) and parts of Upper-Palatinate (ger.: Oberpfalz), two administrative regions of Bavaria. The Czech Republic to the east is also not far away. Our district has about 400 scouts and guides aged seven to seventy in ten groups/towns which are:
Amberg, Bayreuth, Coburg, Himelkron, Hof, Kulmbach, Plößberg, Rehau, Weiden and Wüstenselbitz

Activities

Every year around Whitsun we organize a big camp for all our groups, where our scouts can meet friends and do many activities together. There are also weekends with additional events like hiking trips, courses for leaders, cooking and singing events and much more. All of our groups do their own camp and hikes during the year and very often scouts and guides from other towns are invited to come and join in.
We see ourselves as a confraternity of all the groups in our area and enable all our members to forge friendships beyond their own town. |
We try to offer all our leaders and staff members a wide range of different courses which helps them to do and improve their work in their sections and groups. This course-system consists of trainings held by the VCP-Bavaria and trainigs organised and held by our district.
